Professional battery check for your vehicle

The car battery is a vehicle part that car owners often neglect. According to the ADAC, almost 46% of all vehicle breakdowns in 2022 could be attributed to the car battery. The electrification of combustion engines also increases power consumption. It is therefore important to have regular battery checks carried out on modern vehicles to prevent battery failure.

Importance of regular battery checks

The car battery is a vehicle part that car owners often neglect. According to the ADAC, almost 46% of all vehicle breakdowns in 2022 could be attributed to the car battery. The electrification of combustion engines also increases power consumption. It is therefore important to have regular battery checks carried out on modern vehicles to prevent battery failure.

Checking the charge status

A special measuring instrument that precisely determines the charge status is suitable for checking the charge status of a conventional car battery. A multimeter can be used to measure the standby voltage. If the voltage drops below 12.4 volts, it is advisable to charge the battery as soon as possible. A continuously low charge status leads to damage to the battery.

Importance of the cold start current

As the main load on a traditional starter battery occurs primarily when the engine is started and no further discharging takes place after charging by the alternator, the cold start current is particularly important. Over time, the capacity of the battery decreases due to ageing and wear. In addition, a lower state of charge, which is determined by measuring the open-circuit voltage, has a negative effect on the power available when starting the engine.
