The right time for an oil change
As a rule, the oil is changed during the annual service. If necessary, the oil can also be changed earlier. It is advisable to change the oil at shorter intervals, especially if the engine is subject to heavy loads, e.g. when travelling short distances.
The change intervals may vary depending on the vehicle model. As a specialised workshop for Hyundai and Mitsubishi, we recommend an annual intermediate oil change or a change interval of approx. 10,000 km for the sports engine of the i30N, for example.

Engine wear and damage
Engine oil lubricates the moving parts of the engine, reduces friction and helps to regulate the operating temperature. Old or contaminated oil can no longer fulfil these tasks effectively, which can lead to increased wear and, in the worst case, serious engine damage.
Overheating of the motor
Cooling is another important function of engine oil. If the oil loses its efficiency, this can result in insufficient cooling of the engine, which can lead to overheating and associated damage.
Increased fuel consumption
Old oil also increases fuel consumption, as the engine has to work harder to achieve the same performance. The right amount of oil ensures better lubrication, reduces friction and thus contributes to lower fuel consumption.
FAQ - Frequently asked questions about oil changes
Metal abrasion, dust and combustion residues collect in the oil filter, which can clog it up over time. This allows unfiltered oil to enter the engine, which can cause damage. This is why the oil filter is always changed when the oil is changed. In our workshop, we replace the filter and seal to provide optimum protection for the engine.
When changing the oil, you should always pay attention to the standard of the oil and only use the engine oils approved for the model by the respective vehicle manufacturer. The 5W-30 oil is used for most vehicle types.
5W-30 engine oil has a winter viscosity class of 5, i.e. it is less viscous at very low temperatures than e.g. 10W-30. It has a hot viscosity class of 30, which means that at high temperatures it is just as viscous as 10W-30, but less viscous than 15W-50 oils.
Signs that your car needs an oil change include a low oil level, dark or sludgy oil and unusual engine noises. In addition, an illuminated oil warning light or reduced engine performance can also indicate that the oil is due for a change.
The amount of oil that needs to be filled during a change depends primarily on the engine's cubic capacity and is detailed in your vehicle's manual. On average, modern engines require between four and six litres of engine oil. Larger engines can require up to ten litres of oil.
